Discipline is a vote, not a mood
Why the person you are becoming is decided in the boring hours.
I was sold a version of discipline that looked like a Marine at dawn. Cortisol, cold plunges, contempt for softness. That version had a marketing budget. It did not have a track record in my life.
The real thing looked like a Tuesday at 4:15pm when nobody was watching and I did the thing I said I would do anyway.
One vote at a time
Every action is a ballot. It says either 'I am the kind of person who follows through' or 'I am the kind of person who negotiates.' You get to count the votes at the end of the year. I have counted mine both ways.
"You do not rise to your goals. You fall to your defaults."
So the question isn't how disciplined you are. The question is what your defaults are electing.
